February 2015 Art Blog

During the months February and March, all "Bacich Bears"(TK-4th grade) will be working on a school wide art project titled "The Bacich Box Show.”  Students will have the opportunity to alter a tissue box into an exquisite piece of art. I have assigned a contemporary artist to each grade level, (please see below).  I will guide the students to use a tissue box as a building block to create sculptures based on the assigned artist's work.

Artist Theme and Concept:
4th grade: Henry Moore, wire coat hanger and nylon stocking, semi-abstract sculpture
3rd grade: Louise Nevelson, wood assemblage shadow box
2nd grade: Peruvian Folk Art, Arpillera box
1st grade: Nava Lubelski, recycled, rolled paper shadow box
TK and K: Laurel Burch, whimsical cat box

Thank you to everyone who helped collect empty tissue boxes for this exciting project. It was  a community effort to collect 704 boxes, one for every Bacich student!

Stay tuned, it is promising to be quite the art show!

The grand opening of "The Bacich Box Show" installation will be:
